Life With Cam: 8 Months

Still in size 2 diapers, but they are getting VERY snug. We are just squeezing him in them until we finish up the last of that box and then will move to size 3s.

He is wearing 6 month clothing and luckily his big brother had TONS of short sleeved options in this size, so we haven't had to buy him any new clothes. I'm not sure how long he will still fit in them because it seems like he is growing really quickly nowadays.

Praise the heavens (and please don't let this jinx us) but he has been consistently sleeping through the night for about 2 weeks. He is going to sleep around 7 and waking up around 5:30....but we let him fuss around in his crib and he will usually fall back asleep. Our goal wake-up time is 6:30 so unless he is hysterically crying we keep him in his crib until 6:30.

Naps are still pretty consistent, his morning nap is usually around 9/9:30 and I wake him up at 10:30 so I can sync his afternoon nap up with Bennys. This mama needs that time to herself. Afternoon naps are usually from around 1:30-3:00/3:30.

He is very uninterested in nursing these days...there is too much to look at and being snuggled up with mama is not his priority. I have been nursing him first thing in the morning in his room while he is still sleepy and snuggly, before his afternoon nap, and before bed. The only time he snuggles me is when he is tired. He gets a bottle of pumped milk (since he won't be needing it at daycare) once per day and a bottle of formula for his other bottle. He needs to be in a quiet secluded place when he eats otherwise he hardly eats at all. Solid foods on the other hand are a whole other story. This kid can put away some baby food and table foods. He prefers food he can feed himself, but he isn't quite coordinated enough to get much into his mouth. The majority of it ends up on the floor or in his lap.

He is sitting up on his own and even pushing up to the crawling position. I have a feeling crawling will be happening very soon.

He is busy, busy, busy and into everything. Where his big brother was happy to sit and play with the toys within his reach Cam is not. He will fuss, scream. and then roll around trying to get his hands on anything and everything...mostly the things his big bro is playing with.

He loves taking toys out of buckets...give him a bucket or bowl of toys and he is happy.\

He loves going on walks and is SO chill the entire time. He is constantly on the go when we are hanging around the house, but put him in the stroller and car seat and he is happy as a clam...as long as we are moving.

He love, love, loves his big brother and the feelings are quite mutual. I love seeing their little relationship grow and I cannot wait until Cam is old enough to play with Benny.

This kids smiles, giggles, and laughs ALL.THE.TIME. His entire face lights up when he smiles and it's just the best. We sure love this little guy and are so grateful he is in our lives <3

Life with Cam: 7 months

What a wild ride we have been on these last 7 months. We went from being displaced from our home to being quarantined to our home. While the circumstances aren't great, I am really looking forward to being home with this sweet guy for the next 5 months <3

Cam has been our little guy from the very beginning. He was 5lbs 15oz when he was born, and at his 4 month check up he was in the < 1% for weight. The doctor wasn't super concerned, but suggested we start adding some formula to his breast-milk bottles at daycare. Here we are 3 months later and he is back on his curve for weight (9%-ile) and chunking up nicely. I noticed the other day that he is starting to get those delicious wrist wrinkles. Gah...I love a chunky baby!
While he is gaining weight following his curve, he is still on the smaller side. He is still wearing size 2 diapers and size 3 diapers for overnights since that is the smallest size they come in. He is finally needing those overnight diapers...thank goodness! After almost 7 months of little to no sleep he has started sleeping longer stretches and is now only waking up once per night (between 3-4:00) and AJ has actually taken over the night feedings with a small 3 oz bottle. We will eventually wean away from this, but right now we are all getting WAY more sleep than before and we don't want to upset the apple cart.

This kid LOVES to eat. I am still nursing him throughout the day, but he is VERY distracted by his big brother so I will occasionally pump and then feed him a bottle or just give him a bottle of formula. It just isn't worth fighting him. At daycare he was eating 5-6 oz bottles 3 times per day and starting to eat baby food at lunch. Now that he is home our schedule isn't as consistent...Francine is a super hero and I have no idea how she does it, especially with 5 other kids to take care of.

Now that we have introduced solids (purees and some table foods) he much prefers that to milk. He is a demanding eater and will yell in between bites and smack his hands on his high chair. With Benny we made all of his purees...but this time around we threw in the towel and started getting the store bought stuff. Looking at the ingredients it's pretty much the same thing and SO much easier. We have given him fruits, veggies, and have started introducing step 2 foods. He really likes his veggies and more savory type foods. He will eat fruit, but not as willingly. He isn't the biggest fan of apples...and any foods that have apple in it he won't really eat. He also loves to pick up food and feed himself...puffs are his absolute favorite. It's nice having something to distract him in his high chair while I try to eat

Like I mentioned before he is sleeping MUCH better at night, and now that we are home and on a somewhat better schedule he is napping really well. He is napping in the morning about 2 hours after he wakes up and sleeping anywhere from 45 mins-2 hours...consistency is his strength ;) Afternoon naps have been much more consistent and he usually goes down between 1:30-2 and sleeps until 3:30-4. Now that we I am home we have rearranged his nap schedule and we have been able to drop the dreaded afternoon/evening nap. It has been life changing...let me tell you!

He has been falling asleep on his own at bedtime and nap for a few months now, but lately it has been a much less painful process. He doesn't cry at all and will just wiggle around and fuss/talk to himself until he falls asleep...usually only takes about 5 mins.

He is a rolling machine. He wants to be down on the ground rolling rolling rolling. He gets into anything and everything that is left out. He can sit up pretty well, but will fling himself to the ground because he wants to be moving. He screams constantly, and it's mostly just a happy little scream, but it's high pitched and hurts our ears.

His favorite toys are those he can chew on...he doesn't have a tooth yet, but with as much as he is chewing I feel like one could show up any day.

He loves his big brother and laughs at him constantly...it is so sweet.

He smiles, giggles, and full on belly laughs. He is the happiest little guy (most of the time) and I love how his whole face lights up when he smiles.

These last 7 months have been some of the hardest in our little family's life...but this guy has brought so much happiness and joy to our days...the nights are getting better ;)
